New York City’s Greener, Greater Buildings Plan (GGBP) aims to create a more sustainable city by decreasing energy waste.
Local Law 84 of 2009 involves Benchmarking.
Benchmarking is completed annually on May 1 each year for covered buildings.
Local Law 85 of 2005 involves New York City’s local energy code.
Buildings must meet energy codes for any alteration or renovation project.
Local Law 87 of 2009 requires Energy Audits and Retrocommissioning.
Covered buildings must comply once a decade.
Local Law 88 of 2009 is broken down into two parts:
- Lighting – Non-commercial residential spaces need to meet certain standards
- Sub-Meters – Will be necessary for large commercial tenants
Covered buildings must be in compliance with LL88 by January 1st, 2025.
