Local Law 181 of 2018 adds additional requirements to certain buildings in regards to carbon monoxide (CO2) detectors.
The following occupancies must comply:
- A-1
- A-2
- A-3
- Group B
- Group M
If your building falls under the above occupancies and has a fire alarm system, the carbon monoxide alarms must have the following features or abilities:
- Built-in sounder bases
- Transmits a signal to a central supervising station
- Can initiate an audible and visual supervisory alarm at a constantly attended location
These detectors are not needed in kitchens.
