If your property has housing-related orders or HPD emergency violations that have not been fixed, the Emergency Repair Program (ERP) may take the matter into their own hands. They aim to fix pressing matters.
To ensure that you are not included in this program, try to fix problems as soon as you are made aware of them.
How it Works
The City will hire the appropriate persons to perform the repairs. Afterward, the Department of Finance will bill. The cost includes dispatching a contractor, as well as emergency repair related fees. Failure to pay will eventually cause a lien to be placed on the property.
Protesting a Repair
If you do not believe the emergency repair should have been done on your behalf, you must make your statement before the payment date that is included in the statement of account.
All protests need to be mailed to:
HPD Research & Reconciliation Unit
100 Gold Street, Section 5Z
New York, NY 10038
For questions on this procedure, the HPD can be contacted at 212-863-6020 or email@example.com.
